Making career coaching accessible to everyone
The Evolution of Careervo™
In college, I had advisors, but not advising. No one helped me understand what I was good at or where those strengths could lead. I graduated without direction, which led to underemployment and real hardship.
Career coaching existed, but not for people like me. It was expensive, inaccessible, or simply unavailable. So I jumped between jobs, not because I lacked ability, but because I had no one to help me explore my skills and match them to a path that fit.
I had jobs, but I didn't have a career. Every move forward required self-education. I taught myself what I needed to reach the next level, always figuring it out alone.
Eventually, I landed in the right place. But it was happenstance, not guidance. No one sat down with me to map it out. It just happened to work.
Today, I've spent over 20 years as a special educator and education administrator, from K-12 to higher education. I earned my Ph.D. and have served at the very highest levels of education, including statewide leadership. I also have a son with expressive language disorder, and through my work, I've seen how many people face barriers related to literacy, communication, and confidence.
My career has focused on prevention and serving underresourced populations. I built a bot to help with career exploration, believing it could help others the way I wished someone had helped me. That bot became Careervo.
We believe everyone deserves coaching and the ability to articulate their best self. Barriers to communication, whether someone struggles to write, feels too shy to interview, or simply doesn't know what's available, should not exclude anyone from the workforce. The inability to create a resume, practice for an interview, or match your knowledge, skills, and abilities to fulfilling work that pays a living wage should not determine your future.
Careervo™ is the guide I never had, built for everyone who needs one.
